It’s been a sad time around our house the past few days.
Riley, our 9 year-old Weimaraner, passed away on Tuesday.
He’s been with us since a puppy. My wife and the boys drove all the way to Wisconsin to pick him up. He slept all the way home. : )
Our sweet boy has been part of the family since we brought him home. And we miss him.
God, we miss him. So, so much.
He would stand at the back door every morning — next to my wife — as I backed the car out of the garage to go to work. I would wave to them.
And, every evening, when I got home from work, he would meet me at that same back door. He was there every evening. Waiting.
I’d give him some loving and then make my way into the kitchen.
It’s really hard for me to not see him there.
Harder that I imagined.
Uggh.
Dogs are like kids. They are that much like a family member.
Sure. Life will go on.
But it will be different without our sweet Riley boy.
Thanks for all the love you gave us, Riley. We are missing you like crazy.
